CATHING UP ON 2011 - This session was done in September 0f 2011

I was so excited to find out that one of my closest friends was getting married! Over the years I have had the privilege of photographing her daughter as a newborn and yearly family photos since then. We almost cancelled this engagement session due to VERY dark rain clouds hanging over Grande Prairie, but I am so glad we didnt.
We did get sprinkled with a few drops in the wheat field, but besides that it stayed dry.

I will share some photos of their guestbook, which was created with these images at a later date!

CATCHING UP... One of my sessions from August 2011...

It was a beautiful day for a family session. The son was out, not too hot, a nice little breeze and the park was not too busy. Sondra and Adam were so much fun to capture because it was so easy to get great images with them, it was so obvious they are so in love with each other. I loved the picnic, cupcake and wine idea that Sonya had, added a lot of fun to the shoot, especially for the kids! Little summer was full of smiles and laughs when she finally got to eat the cupcake :)

Rain on your wedding day means less tears shed during your marriage... right? Well if that is the case, this couple is set! They had to move their ceremony from outside to inside, but everything still looked beautiful! Great job decorating the hall on such short notice! Thank goodness the rain held back a little during the portraits and we actually didnt even get that wet! We did go back to their original ceremony location for a few shots! see below :)

Overall, wonderful wedding, wonderful couple and wonderful guests, who had A TON of fun in the photobooth!

I meet this couple (the young ones without kids) last year when I did their engagment session and wedding in Peace River. They called me back this year to do a large family session for Rosalyne's side of the family! So worth the drive! Such a beautiful setting and such amazing kids!

Workshop Time!

I strongly believe that it is important for every photographer to go to workshop and courses. Doesn't matter if you've been doing it for a year or 25 years, everyone can learn things, the business is always changing and new technology is being developed as we speak, PLUS who doesnt want a big dose of inspiration! I choose to take a workshop from THE BEBBS this year. They are a husband and wife team who photograph weddings out of the Vancouver area, but have been sought after all over the world for their photography and teaching! The workshop was amazing, I came home with my head so full of ideas / inspiration / new techniques / ways i wanted to change my business that I didnt even know where to begin. This is going to be a BIG year for IMPROVEMENT on so many different levels of my business! The workshop was more focused on class material than actual shooting of images, we did get out a few times and we had fun just playing around with the models, but that really is not what this workshop was all about and its funny because I expected it to be, but yet I really needed the classroom stuff SOO much more than i thought!

BLUE SHOW

During the month of August you can go to the center for creative arts to view the BLUE show, its an art show with a wide variety of art pieces, which are all focused around the color BLUE.

I submitted a few of my pieces and this one made it into the show.. it looks even better on large canvas!

FASHION SHOOT w/ Lindsay Goff

I was told by a group of other photographers that one day I MUST do a shoot with Lindsay Goff! I had seen some of her photos before that she had done with them and obviously was totally up for this, so once I got it touch with Lindsay we setup this fasion shoot... I got my inspiration for this shoot from a ripped out page of a fashion magazine... chagned it around a little and made it my own... wardrobe was a combination of some of my items, some of lyndsay's items and some goodwill store items (purple dress) which I totally fell in love with! Thanks also to the amazingly talented make-up artist, Angelina Lang! Always love working with her!

What an adorable little girl Cami is! She was so much fun to photograph. We had planned for her to be playing with a bunch of pearl necklaces during her little brown onsie setup, but she was NOT wanting anything to do with them, so funny, she kept walking to the edge of my paper backdrop roll and playing with the paper... so easily entertained, shows we really dont need all those fany toys for kids, they are easily entertained with basic household items..and paper... anyway, it was a fun shoot, especially the smashing of the cupcake at the end!

She is one of those rare few woman who don't gain a pound anywhere but in their belly, with no stretch marks she was confident and comfortable enough to try anything, not all images are posted here, due to privacy reasons, but they are all gorgeous. What a pleasure meeting this couple and hearing their story on how they meet years and years ago, then lost touch and then after those long lost years, got in touch again and are now married and having a baby, such a great story to tell their little one about (very soon :)

High-Fashion Belly

Chantal and I have been friends for years, unfortunately we live quite far apart these days, but when I found out she was expecting her first, I had to make sure I made a trip to see her and take some belly photos. See the thing is, Chantal and I ALWAYS take TONS of photos when we're together, we've been doing that for years now. The second day of my visit we decided to do these high-fashion belly photos. A hairstylist from her work was stopping by that evening, so he whipped up this AWESOME hairdo in about 5 minutes, we added just a little bit of make-up and voila... here are the results... created around 1 am... a little tired the next day, but oh so worth it!

I meet Carly when we got together to do a dance shoot a few months back. I found out she was graduating this year so we decided to do a fun grad/casual shoot as well! It was extremely windy, but I think we managed to deal with it pretty well! We ended up finding a pretty secluded little path where the wind was barely noticable!

Katrina and I used to share a basement with her boyfriend at the time, years and years ago, so it was so exciting to see her again, now with husband and son and growing belly! I got the chance to try out a new lens, the Canon 70-200mm 2.8 Lens, from another local photographer. Thanks Lukasz! I needed a model so facebook helped me find Danielle. We called up Bombshell and Leanne was kind enough to take care of her wardrobe. We went to a few different locations and had a great time playing around with some different lighting techniques. In the end... very happy with the photos and the lens, it moved to the top of my "TO-BUY-LIST"!

Matt "the riotmaker" Baker has been a friend of my husband for years. Ones he started getting into MMA fighting seriously we took a few shots for his fighting profile. During this visit in BC I stopped by his training center and didn another session with him and a friend of his who also trains at the same facility, king of the cage middleweight championn, Ryan Chiappe. Had a great time playing around with lighting and watching them do some crazy jumps and moves! CONGRATULATIONS MATT on your win in Nanaimo on March 26th!

I was excited to get the call from April that she had had her little baby boy! We setup a date right away to do the newborn photos. There was a lot of snow on the road... but... i made it out to their home. We used the baby's room for the photos, the light blue walls made for a perfect background. Loved photographing this little bundle of joy!

Holden + the Cake

Holden and the cake... what a funny shoot... he arrived as happy as he could have been... running around and laughing... then it was time to sit down with the cake so mom took his cracker away... well... that set him off BIG TIME. I dont think either of us expected that. It took quite a while before he even wanted to come close to the cake again... starting with little pokes he soon realized the fun of poking in the pokodots on the cake! I'm glad we waited it out as we got some adorable and funny shots!

Krista + Wade = Winter Wedding

I loved being a part of this small and very intimate wedding in early December. Krista wanted the white dress wedding, but without the big crowds and formal parts. She got dressed at her hairdresser's house and was driven to her house for the Ceremony. Wade was waiting by the window for her arrival. The ceremony was performed by her Uncle and was very nice. A glass of wine was enjoyed after the signing of the marriage license. We did a few outdoor portraits and I completely give it up for Krista with bare arms in -18 weather! We went to the Center for Creative Arts for a few more portraits after that. Congratulations to the two of you!

Loved meeting this little bundle of joy. Jessica was just a few weeks old at the time of this shoot. She took a little while to fall asleep, but it was all so worth the wait. So adorable!
